Today, we operate across three core capabilities: laser scanning and reality capture, Scan-to-CAD and Scan-to-BIM conversion, and industrial and manufacturing modeling. Our teams document existing conditions, rebuild legacy drawings to modern standards, and deliver production-ready models at LOD 200 through LOD 500.

In 1993, The Drafting Company Inc. (TDC) was founded in Chicago, Illinois, originally known as BoltCAD Engineering Services. With a strong foundation in CAD drafting, the company quickly became a trusted partner for clients in building construction and industrial manufacturing. TDC’s expertise in AutoCAD and MicroStation, combined with a team of skilled drafters and project managers, set the stage for future growth.

By 2000, TDC introduced a new division focused on 3D Solid Modeling, incorporating Creo/ProE and Autodesk’s Inventor, positioning itself as a leader in advanced design solutions.

At the same time, it transitioned into a fully virtual service provider, eliminating the need for physical production offices. With its new headquarters in St. Louis, Missouri, TDC offered clients nationwide access to top-tier drafting and modeling talent, reducing overhead costs and increasing flexibility.

With the rise of Building Information Modeling (BIM), TDC expanded its services to meet growing industry demands. TDC also introduced BIM Family Content Creation Services, allowing building component manufacturers to seamlessly integrate with AEC firms.
